The Benefits of Roller Blinds

Last Updated Oct 10, 2011 · Written by Jaclyn Fitzgerald

If it’s time for you to install new window coverings in your home, why not think about roller blinds?  You might get a throwback to the seventies but modern roller blinds are actually an excellent choice.  Here are the reasons why!  To take a look at the new roller blinds for yourself and to pick the perfect ones for your home, take a trip to your local blinds supplier.

Roller Blinds are Aesthetically Attractive

Roller blinds are a great choice if you are after a window covering that has simple lines.  This is because they fit very closely to the window and do not have a lot of excess fabric.  Roller blinds can also be made with a huge range of fabrics including translucent fabrics, sunscreen fabrics, and block out fabrics.  Of course, the fabrics are available in a range of colours and patterns so you can choose the one that suits your home the best.

Roller Blinds are Flexible

Another huge benefit of roller blinds is how flexible they are.  This again, is because of the choice of fabrics that you can fit them with.  If you are after a way of screening the sun’s glare and UV rays, you can’t go past a sunscreen fabric.  These let in the light, while screening out glare and rays and still allowing you to see outside.  On the other hand, if you want complete privacy and darkness, a block out fabric in your choice of colour is perfect.  For something in between, a standard fabric is ideal.

To get the best of both worlds, why not consider installing a dual roller blind?  This is where there are actually two blinds installed on the same bracket – a sunscreen blind, and a block out blind.  Get the benefits of a sunscreen blind when you need it and the benefits of a block out blind when you need that!

Roller Blinds are Easy to Operate

Roller blinds are one of the easiest types of blinds to operate in the home, thanks to the choices that you have in operating systems.  Roller blinds can be spring assisted, operated by a chain drive or fully motorised.  If you have a chain drive or motorised roller blind, you can actually link a number of blinds together so you can open and close multiple blinds at once.  No more reaching to each blind individually. This is perfect if, for example, you have furniture in front of your windows!

Roller Blinds are Durable

One thing that you want from your blinds is durability and roller blinds deliver this in spades.  This is because they use durable steel tubes, strong, high quality fabrics and top of the line operating systems.  You can be sure that your roller blinds will operate the same as new even after they’ve been installed for years!  Also, your blinds will not have faded from the sun as the fabric has been specifically treated to resist UV.
