What are you going to do with all that rubbish from your renovation, landscaping or major clean-up job? You could make half a dozen or more trips to the tip, but there's an easier way. Hire a skip bin and get rid of it all in just one go. But how much does skip bin hire cost? Let's take a look at the costs.
Skip bin hire can cost anywhere from $286 - $1958, depending on the size of bin, and duration of hire. A bin 2m3 will cost anywhere from $286 to $343 per day, a bin 3m3 from $388 to $465 per day, a bin 4m3 costing $429 to $514 per day, and a bin 12m3 $1958 per day
You've no doubt seen dozens of skip bins, but may not have thought much about them. Basically, they're like giant rubbish bins. You'll see skip bins that can contain anywhere from 2 to 30 cubic metres of rubbish. They’re usually delivered by a skip hire business and picked up after a pre-arranged length of time. When you order a skip bin, it will be measured in length or square metres, with approximate cubic metres added as a guide.
Skip bins can also come in different types for example; mixed heavy, green waste, soil and dirt and general waste.
General waste examples include Light domestic waste, Light construction waste, office waste.
Examples of mixed heavy waste include; domestic, commercial, demolition, construction and renovation material.
Clean fill/hard fill skip bins can accommodate concrete, bricks, rock and ceramic tiles.
A green waste skip bin can take the following waste materials; grass, leaves, tree trimmings, small branches, weeds and bark.
Sometimes there are suppliers who have skip bins that are dedicated to just soil and dirt.
Some bins have a maximum load capacity, mixed heavy skip bins are designed to take really heavy loads so generally do not come with a restriction.
Often skip bin companies will also restrict what can and can not be dumped into their bins. Here is a list of examples of what is often not acceptable:

You may be able to receive a discount for "clean fill" such as 100 percent concrete. If you are having metal roofing or any other type of metal scraps removed, the skip bin may not cost you anything. The skip bin company will sell it to recoup the cost. You may need to pay more for the removal of unusual or dangerous items, such as insulation and mattresses. Some items, such as asbestos, batteries, paint and tree stumps cannot be placed in a skip bin. If these items are found in the bin, you could incur a heavy fine.
The prices above are to give you a rough guide only. You'll have to get quotes from skip hire businesses to get an accurate quote. Your initial quote will only be as accurate as the information you give the skip bin hire company, so be sure to tell the businesses you get quotes from as many details about the type of rubbish you need to have removed. If you have any items you're not sure can be placed in the bin, ask the company for their advice. They may be able to take them, but will probably add a surcharge for their disposal.
