Frosted Vs Tinted Shower Screens

The shower screen isn’t just necessary for stopping water splashing everywhere; it’s also a main feature in the bathroom. That’s why you need to choose the style of shower screen carefully. Two different options to choose from are frosted and tinted shower screens. Here’s what you need to know.
What You Need to Know About Frosted Glass
Frosted glass is simply glass that has been rendered opaque; that is, you cannot see through it but it still lets the light through. There are different ways of creating frosted glass and the most common include acid etching, sandblasting or applying special window films. You can have the entire panel of glass frosted or you can apply designs during the frosting process in order to create a pattern of your choice.
Frosted glass is an excellent choice for shower screens as it gives you a feeling of complete privacy without feeling closed in or losing any light, whether that’s natural lighting or bathroom lighting. This privacy is great if you have an open plan bathroom or a bathroom that is all in one (has the toilet in there too) as it means that other people can use the bathroom while you are in the shower, and no one is seeing anything that they shouldn’t. Frosted glass also looks absolutely fantastic as a shower screen as it is a classic, elegant look and it also won’t interfere with the colour of tiles or walls. You can opt to just have the main panel in the shower screen frosted or you can have all of the glass in the shower screen frosted, depending on your preference, your budget, and the layout of your bathroom. Frosted glass can be used in all kinds of shower screens without any problems.
What You Need to Know About Tinted Glass
Tinted glass is just any glass that has had a tinting applied. The tinting is applied in the form of a film or a coating and it is designed to reduce the amount of light that gets through the screen. Tinting is available in different colours but the most common are different shades of greys, greens, and blues.
Tinting is a great choice for your shower screen as you can achieve varying levels of privacy, depending on how dark the tint is. It also means that you can make the shower screen more of a feature, rather than just having it in a standard clear shade of glass. Tinted glass can look extremely elegant and it suits all styles of bathrooms. Again, the same as frosted glass, you can choose whether you want to tint just one shower screen panel or if you want to have the whole thing tinted. However, one thing you need to be aware of is that the tinting will affect the colour of the tiles in the bathroom, so you will need to choose your tinting or your tiles carefully to ensure that you get the colour result that you are after.
