Excavation

  • Browse the local directory for Excavation

Consider the size of your job – will a bobcat with operator suffice or will you need larger machinery?  Ensure that the machinery can access the area to be excavated.  If your ground is soft or uneven, this may affect what type of machinery can be used in excavations.  Not only are there traditional excavation methods using earthmoving equipment, there is now also vacuum excavation, which is particularly suited to service trenches and the like and causes much less disruption to your property.

Also consider if your chosen professional will remove excess material such as soil, rocks and concrete or if you need to hire another professional for this.  Similarly consider if your professional will bring in any additional fill needed.

Your professional should be able to detect any underground pipes or cables before work is commenced.  If necessary, you can also ring the Dial Before You Dig service to find out where pipes and cables are located on your property.
