Furniture - Retailers

  • Browse the local directory for Furniture Retailers

When you are looking to buy new furniture, the sheer amount of furniture retailers out there can make finding the perfect piece of furniture seem near impossible.  But there are some steps that you can take to ensure that you choose the right retailer for you.  Read on to learn more.

Choosing a Furniture Retailer

Furniture retailers are the most popular avenue for buying furniture as they have a huge range of furniture available.  Retailers are chosen on a number of factors such as:
  • the type of furniture that the retailer sells
  • the cost of the furniture
  • where they are located
  • financing or leasing options offered

Always compare the selection of furniture available, as well as the prices and the customer service at more than one store.  Never settle on your first option.  An exception to this rule is if you’re looking for highly specialised furniture or are looking for something custom.

The Importance of Staff at a Furniture Retailer

Apart from the products that they sell, the most important thing about a furniture retailer is the staff that they employ.  Ensure that the retailer provides you with excellent customer service.  The salespeople should be helpful, easy to approach, and able to answer any question that you may have.  The salesperson should be well-versed all of the products sold by the retailer and be able to advise you on options that best meet your needs.  Salespeople should also have the capacity to set up a financing or leasing deal where appropriate.

Check the Furniture Retailer’s Reputation

Check the furniture retailer’s reputation.  This can be done by looking at online forums, by reading customer testimonials, or asking for recommendations from your friends or family.  If the furniture that you are looking to purchase is a major brand, contact the manufacturer to make sure that the retailer is a licensed dealer.

Learn the Policies – What you need to Know

When shopping at a furniture retailer, you need to know about their return policy, and the warranties and guarantees they offer.  Make sure that the warranty or guarantee on your particular piece of furniture suits your needs and covers all of the things that you are worried about.  If the furniture proves to be defective, ensure that the return policy allows you to return the furniture for a refund or allows you to get a replacement.  Learn the return policy – some retailers may not offer a replacement or refund if you simply change your mind or if the item is on sale.  Always keep your receipt from the sale.
