Fremantle Timber Traders is owned and run by Terry Miskimmin, who has been recycling timber for the past 20 years. Terry's strong desire to promote sustainable business in the timber industry comes from living in the South West for the past 25 years.
In view of the demands for responsible resource conservation and management, Fremantle Timber Traders, has specialised in sourcing environmentally friendly, recycled timbers, in particular Jarrah and Karri. Jarrah and Karri are among the world’s finest hardwoods. These heavy and durable eucalyptus species are highly valued for both construction and fine cabinetwork. These timbers are recovered from old buildings and structures such as Woolstores and old Colonial houses. These sources provide naturally seasoned wood, selected for the colour and grain, often over 50 to 150 years old and originally obtained from mature trees many of which were well over one hundred years old when felled. This mature timber is significantly more stable than younger timbers and can often have significant historical value. Fremantle Timber Traders also mill timber from forrest floor logs which yield high quality large dimension posts and beams.
Timber supplied by the Fremantle Timber Traders can be milled to customer specifications,
often to replicate rare and specialist styles for renovations and reproductions, whilst maintaining the integrity of mature timber.
