The Megasun range of open circuit solar hot water systems are designed to perform primarily in areas not susceptible to frost or snow. These systems operate very efficiently in warmer environments, but are not designed for colder climates.
Unlike the Megasun closed circuit, heat exchange method of water heating, the open circuit system uses a process called “thermosyphon”. This is where cold water enters the bottom of the solar collector(s), is heated up by the sun and automatically rises up the panel, eventually ending up back in the storage cylinder as hot, usable water.
The Megasun open circuit systems are some of the most efficient Systems worldwide. Recent tests by leading Australian testing laboratory, VIPAC, have confirmed that the Renew electric boosted solar hot water systems are at the top of the list regarding performance and energy savings.
