Education and Experience
My studies began in 1981 with a Certificate in Horticultural Amenities and since, education has been ongoing. I began a degree in Natural Resources, but deferred after achieving the horticultural subject. Beside industry based seminars and workshops, further subjects over time have included, irrigation and drainage management and weed control.
When I first began down the path of design, specific courses or schooling was not available.
Experiences are at the end of the day, education – the school of life. My first hands on experience was as a council gardener. The progression included nursery work, manager of a retail nursery, design and landscape consultant for a landscaping company, and managing my own landscaping business.

Enjoy Your Garden and Save Water
The drought we had to have! We have for far too long been allowed to use (abuse) water far too freely. Yes we can have wonderful, and even lush appearing, outdoor spaces with minimal water use. We need to be employing a 3 steps approach.
- Design. Placement of plants and yes even lawns, to maximise the visual effect but minimize the amount of water required.
- Plant selection. We have available to us a wonderful range of plants that require little to no water, once established. And no, they do not have to be all grey foliage plants. Lush greens are also available. Varying textures, colours and forms.
- The five ‘P's’, Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.There is much that can and should be done that increases the water holding capacity of our soils.
Most of us are already putting into place or are considering our own water storage and use options. Keep in mind the following scenario when making choices in rain water tanks. ‘100 plants using 2 litre per hour drippers for three hours will use 600 litres of water.’
If you are concerned about a large tank being an eyesore, there are ways to embrace or screen them.

I am often asked what style of design I specialise in? I specialise in design to suit you. From minimalist to traditional English, Tuscany to Bali. I enjoy the challenges of variety and believe it prevents the creative side from becoming stale. If a particular style is what you have in mind; it will inevitably be influenced by your own individuality and that of your property.
Our properties are our biggest asset. It’s important that every square meter is used to maximum potential. Establishing accents where needed, creating depth and interest with a co-ordinated approach. Building your own unique haven that is completely user friendly, low in maintenance and with its own special ‘WOW’
