SKYLIGHT SPECIALIST

Insulated Glass Skylights and Roof Windows
The standard quotation includes a custom made gyprock shaft from the skylight to your ceiling with a square set plaster finish at ceiling level. The square set gives a better finish. I sell only quality skylights from leading manufacturers that are certified to conform with Australian Standard 4285.

Tube Style Skylights
The best tube skylights combine super reflectivity using exclusive, hi-tech materials with a small roof top opening to minimise heat. Cheaper “copy cat” tubes use aluminium foil air conditioning duct for the shaft. This gives low reflectivity compared with specialist materials. The poor quality tubes have a wider diameter to attempt to compensate for poor light transmission.

About Michael Johnston.

I have been specializing in the installation of skylights of all kinds since 1994.s a licensed carpenter with many years experience in commercial and residential building. This enables me to make any structural adjustments required to install a skylight to provide the most aesthetically pleasing result. A skylight is a low cost way to transform a dim room.

I have accreditation from Velux as a trained installer of their products. I believe it is important that my customers understand the exact nature of the work to be done and how the final result will look in their home. I ensure I leave the site as clean and tidy as before the installation commenced. As a result my customers are happy to recommend my workmanship to others who are considering a skylight in their home.

    Roof Windows with Glazing

    Manual Openabe Roof Window
A manual openable roof window will give you as much light and ventilation as a skylight, but it is specifically designed for within reach applications eg. attics. It has a built in handle and can rotate 1 80 degrees.

    High Performance Double Glazing
High Performance double glazing is standard on electric openable, manual openable and fixed skylights. It consists of two panes of tempered safety glass dal-sealed and injected with argon gas. The inner pane consists of two sheets of heat strengthened safety gloss laminated together for maximum safety.

    Comfort Double Glazing
Comfort double glazing is standard on manual openable roof windows and curb mounted skylights and optional on fixed and manual openable skylights. It consists of two panes of tempered safety gloss dual-sealed and injected with argon gas.

    Skylight Options

    Electric Openabe Skylight
An openable skylight not only gives you light but also ventilation. And with an electric remote control, opening and closing windows and blinds is as easy as pushing a button. Sometimes you don’t even have to. VELUX electric openable skylight has rain sensors so when it starts raining, the window closes automatically. Flyscreen is included.

    Manual Openabe Skyight
A manual openable skylight will give you as much light and ventilation as an electric model. It is manually controlled and you have a choice of two different glazings on majority of the sizes. Depending on the position of the skylight opening and closing is controlled by a handle or a rod. Flyscreen is included.

    Fixed Skylight
A fixed skylight will give you the full benefit of the light but no ventilation. Therefore it is suitable for rooms where adequate ventilation already exists. You have a choice of two different glazings on majority of the sizes.

    Skylight Blinds

    Electric Blockout Binds
Provides complete blockout of light and protection against heat. The blind for electric openable skylights uses an integrated control system. The blind for manual openable and fixed skylights requires a separate control system. The blind can be stopped in any position and is fully retractable. This is a very efficient and reliable system.

    Venetian Binds
Provides added light control, privacy and protection against heat. The blind For electric openable skylights uses the integrated control system. The blind for manual openable and fixed skylights uses control rod ZCT300 for out-of- reach applications or Z0Z032 for blinds within reach. The pitch of the blades can be adjusted and the blind is fully retractable.

    Velux® - Recommended Use

    Skylights
Skylights are for overhead, out-of-reach applications where abundant natural light is required. Skylights are generally installed with a light shaft from the roof to the ceiling in a room such as a kitchen, living area, bedroom or bathroom.
They can also be installed into a raked ceiling without the need for a light shaft.

    Roof Windows
Roof windows are for within reach applications such as attics and lofts and will usually be the only source of natural light for that room.

Sun Tunnels are best suited in locations where a skylight or roof window will not fit. Sun Tunnels are ideal for cupboards, hallways, toilets and small areas.
