Aircoat Australia – Complete resurfacing solutions

As a painter for more than 20 years, Sandro Bertolacci knows all too well the headaches a bathroom or kitchen renovation can cause.

Sandro’s business Aircoat Australia has worked with both homeowners and builders across the suburbs of Melbourne helping to transform tired and rundown areas of the home into shiny and new showpieces and it is the bathroom and kitchen ‘upgrades’ which tend to be the most costly and time consuming.

“The average bathroom renovation to replace just the wall tiles and bathtub can cost anywhere from $ 3,500 to $ 6,000 and can take up to three weeks to complete,” Sandro says, “the average kitchen can cost between $ 8,000 and $ 20,000 to replace and usually takes two to three weeks to complete”.

That’s why, when a few years ago, Sandro came across a resurfacing product being used overseas which, would not only be able to restore wet areas at a fraction of the cost of renovation (Sandro estimates often as much as 70 percent), but also allows the process to take place in just one or two days, he knew that there would be a great number of people across Melbourne’s renovation belt who would be interested.

“The interest has been phenomenal, and when people see what this resurfacing process can achieve, they are amazed at the results,” Sandro says.

So what exactly is ‘resurfacing’? Basically, using the latest technology, it is a coating paint (EP-Acrylic) which is a high performance 2-pak coating that can be used over the existing surfaces – including ceramic tiles, baths, vanities, cupboards and bench tops – to restore them to as good as new with the finished product being both attractive and durable.

“Some people question the durability of the product, but while resurfacing is fairly new in Australia, it has been used overseas for more than a decade and has been extensively tested by resurfacing contractors all across the world. The coating should last around 15 to 20 years under normal usage and I offer a five year guarantee with all my work,” Sandro explains.

The range of finishes and colours available is extensive, there is even a specialty finish for bench tops called Fleckcote which gives the surface a ‘granite’ effect and is available in a range of fashion and designer colours. Even more impressively, it can be applied on site in just one day without the removal of sinks and cooktops.

“The feedback I am getting from my clients is ‘Why hadn’t I heard of this before?’.

An inexpensive, hassle free way of refreshing your home? Somehow I don’t think that the resurfacing secret will remain so for much longer.
