Kalgoorlie, the capital of the Goldfields of Western Australia was primarily constructed with wooden framed homes and buildings. This suited the current technology and the destructive habits of termites and borers.
Walsh and Carrick, a north west company moved into the Eastern Goldfields, bringing with them steel framing technology, and became Duwal Construction.
Duwal Construction became involved in a joint venture with Harrison Bros. of Harrison steel framing in Bunbury. The first major project was for 104 units for a mine camp at Leinster.
In 2004 the company was sold to the current owners and renamed to Goldfields Steel Framing. Production was by the BHP Superframe method, and continued for another 3 years.
In July 2006 the Scottsdale method became available offering greater precision, increased production efficiency and computer technology.
