About A.C.T. Stained Glass
Hi my name is Max Giampietro and have been working with glass for over thirty years in various businesses, I am the proprietor of ACT Stained Glass which has been operating for the last twenty years. Taking after my father, who was a glazier. I originally wanted to become an architect but unfortunately or fortunately didn't, but instead managed to incorporate my trade with my passion for design in Stained Glass and Lead-light work.
I started as a glazing apprentice in 1974 and completed my training in 1978 and receiving my trade certificate I have worked with glass in many ways, general glazing, machining, bevelling, lead-lighting, staining of glass and with kiln fired hot and moulded glass. My design capabilities are unlimited and strive to meet my customers requirements with fully guaranteed workmanship.
The photographs I have displayed on this site are only a very small portion of the work that I've completed, (I make a lousy photographer) but gives you a cross section of my capabilities, I always design according to what my customer likes
Our services comprise of:
- Custom Design: Every time we are commissioned to make a new Stained Glass or Lead-light windows or panel we always put the customers satisfaction and requirements first.
We feel that if a customer is going to pay for a personalised window or panel they should get exactly what they want. Prior to commencing any work we get all the information of what the customer likes or dislikes eg, colour, design, privacy, lighting, Tradition, Australiana, or Contemporary, when all the information has been gathered we will design until the customer is totally satisfied.
- Manufacture and Fitting: After a design has been approved, the panel is then constructed by, drawing a working plan, cutting individual pieces of glass, assembling them by inserting into lead extrusions, soldering all joints. Sealing the panel completely with putty, cleaning and then polishing, it is then set into a pre-measured and stripped window and or door, etc.
- Restoration and Repair: There's a lot of history in Australian building and furnishings hand made work with true craftsmanship, and it is our greatest satisfaction to conserve this craftsmanship in the restoration of old and deteriorated glass panels. The panels are carefully taken apart cleaned and reassembled with as much of the original glass that's in tact hopefully surviving for another one hundred odd years.
There are also the not so old panels that become victim to the odd football, cricket ball or slam they too get treated with care and are repaired, rejuvenated, and replaced in as new a condition as the originally where.
- Technical Advice: In the past I have taught and trained many people in the art of stained glass and lead-light work. I currently am not teaching but am always available to answer any queries concerning stained glass and lead-light work.
