Welcome to Fees Fernhouse
Do you love and enjoy ferns in your house, on your patio or in your garden?
You can change the whole atmosphere of your residence simply by adding ferns.
Hanging boston baskets to your patio will give a feeling of cool and calm or possibly a maidenhair or boston hanging fern to your bathroom? What a transformation!.
In the garden, in that shady area where nothing grows too well or around that artificial creek you are going to build?, blechnums and tree ferns will flourish with birdsnests and maidenhair ferns underneath to fill the area with possibly staghorn or elkhorn ferns attached to the trees?.
Do you have a wall at the back of your patio that is blank? What about a staghorn fern on its own backing board to attach?.
Tassel ferns in the wild grow in trees hanging over creeks in the rainforest why not do the same over your creek or pond?.
We stock ferns of all types. Nephrolepis or Boston ferns - from the everyday varieties to the older more exotic, hard to find varieties.
Blechnums - I describe as the cycad of the fern family. Aspleniums or Birdsnest ferns. Tree Ferns - from a 200mm pot to the advanced stage. Pteris ferns, Haresfoot, Bearsfoot, Maidenhairs and mosses.
Tassel Ferns are also in stock with varieties ranging from the Queenslanders to overseas types, that are many and varied in frond structure. Potsize is generally in the 140mm size.
Platycerium Superbum or Staghorns and Platycerium Bifercatum, which are Elkhorns, are available mostly all year round. The Staghorns have been grown attached to a backing board.
Not all of these ferns are native to this Country of ours. Here in North Queensland with our climate, one would think they all were. There is no difficulty in growing a lovely large display.
Our nursery is located 25km south of Cairns at Gordonvale.
Just turn right at the traffic lights onto the gillies range road, right at little roundabout and left at the tee intersection and the nursery is approx. 800metres up on the right.
We welcome the public to visit our display, We do mail orders all over our state and even as far away as Adelaide in South Australia.
