Sharon has been working as an interior decorator / designer for ten years & has an instinctive flair for colour and a perfectionist's eye for detail and design.
She helps those who are building a new home or office, or simply renovating their existing home or work place.
After building on a large extension to her 1848 home, as owner builder, she realized she had a love & talent for creating the ideal living environment and felt she would like to help others in a similar situation. Keen to learn about every aspect of the decorating & design industry, Sharon enrolled as a full time student at Marleston TAFE, S.A.
Her single-minded passion for antiques & heritage buildings was soon overcome by a TAFE lecturer who encouraged her to "open her mind" to all decorating styles.
After completing an Associate Diploma of Arts in Interior Decoration & Design, she opened her own business, "Sharon Hancock Interior Decoration & Design." In this business, she is able to promote any period & style, depending on the client's personality, tastes, lifestyle & of course, budget.
The most difficult aspect of starting her own business was resourcing suppliers & manufacturers. Sharon now has access to numerous fabric, colour, furniture, lighting & window furnishing supliers & workrooms. She likes to be able to offer the best quality available.
"I love to be creative, & in particular I have a passion for colour & fabrics", Sharon says, "so it is very exciting when I can combine these things. I love furnishing windows, especially with some of the gorgeous fabrics which are available these days."
Sharon's most recent project was all the interior decoration & design for the new Wellbeing Clinic at McLaren Vale. The old birthing wing of the McLarenVale hospital was converted to a doctors' surgery & now has 3 GP's consulting there.
Sharon designed all the built in furniture, including the curved reception desk, selected all the waiting room chairs & fabrics, layout & selection of the flooring, all office furniture, designed all built-ins in the consulting rooms & nurses' treatment room, all window furnishings & she also designed the 5 windows of leadlight which depict the hills of Willunga, & Sellicks Beach. The children's play area has a sea theme, including a painted wall with life like fish stickers, hanging mobiles of jelly fish & crab shaped cushions.
