“Air exchange between interior spaces and the outdoor atmosphere can occur due to a variety
of processes, including wind-driven flows and natural convection-driven flows.”

THE
UNIVERSAL TILE VENTILATOR
Invented and patented by Kevin Baker, a roofing contractor with over 40 years worldwide experience - expert in all facets of roofing.
The idea came after a solution was needed for a customer who had a massive condensation problem in his 4.5 million dollar home. After fitting the system the condensation was eliminated! Since then the Universal Tile Ventilation System has been fitted into many Australian homes with great success & are now available for international buyers!
Unobtrusive, Highly Effective
Universal Tile Ventilators will allow heat to exit the roof space in nil breeze situations through natural convection flow, however, also takes advantage of free air across the plane of the roof.
- Air is induced by natural convection and free flow rather than by mechanical means.
- Provides entry and exit point for hot moist and/or stale air to the outside atmosphere through convection and free air flow.
- At the height of summer a venturi effect is caused between the vents due to increased expansion of heated air forced through the outlet vents drawing cool air through the inlet vents.
WHY VENTILATE?
Proper roof space ventilation is a serious issue that should always be considered.
When a house has been properly ventilated, a positive airflow is created which allows the house to breath and helps prevent moisture build-up.
Normal household activities can wreak havoc in an roof space and ultimately, a roof. Showers, laundry, dishwashing and cooking all generate moisture that can damage insulation and rafters during winter. Summer heat build-up in the roof space promotes premature aging of roofing materials. All of which could shorten roof life. For maximum roof protection, a well-ventilated roof space is the key.
In warm weather, proper ventilation prevents the roof space becoming a hot box that spills unwanted heat down through the ceiling into the living area (even if the roof space is insulated).
In cold weather, proper ventilation helps prevent moisture from condensing on the insulation, structural wood, tiles or roof deck. Moisture-soaked insulation becomes ineffective. Thereby causing excess energy usage. Condensation on wood leads to rotting and expensive repairs. While those are the most important reasons for proper ventilation, they aren’t the only ones.
Excess moisture in the home causes mildew and plaster damage.
INSULATION
Balanced airflow keeps roof space temperatures from reaching extremes. Vents allow outside air to move through the roof space. The result is a cooler, drier roof space, which means a longer lasting roof.
How many do I need?
4-6 Universal Tile Ventilators are required for a small size house; 6-8 for a medium house
and 8 or more tiles for large homes.
UNOBTRUSIVE HIGHLY EFFECTIVE
The Universal Tile Vent incorporates the external dimensions of the modern concrete tiLe and most older concrete and Terrecotta tiles, with configuration of a flat shingLe tile with interlocking
side laps.
There is no cowling or hood protruding above the plane of the roof tine, the vent sits flush to the exposed dimensions of the host tile.
When the Universal Tile Vent is fixed within the field of the roof tile covering the ventiLating system is almost invisible.
HOW IT WORKS
The Universal Tile Vent is placed in the fourth Lower course of a tile roof to allow free air flow to enter the roof cavity and one is placed on third course from the top of the opposing side to allow hot air or moisture to evacuate the roof cavity. The vent provides effective naturaL ventiLation removing the hot air trapped in the roof cavity in summer and the condensation and mould & mildew problems of winter and summer.
Beats the summer heat & the winter condensation problems.
SMOOTHLINE VENTILATOR SYSTEM
The SMOOTHLINE Ventilator System is an unobtrusive ventilation system that solves the problems of massive heat build up and condensation problems to the roof space and internal areas of homes, for corrugated colorbond roofing.
The sealing up of this type of roofing without allowance for ventilation, excessive heat build up at very high temperatures are transmitted into the roof space and radiated through ceilings to the habitable areas below.
SIMPLICITY
One of the unique features of this product is that it is simple to install.
Very easily installed, can be fixed within new roofs as the roof is being covered or very easily retrofitted to existing houses. Very simple in design. It’s the simple thoughts that are the greatest. It’s the simple systems that are the most effective. It’s the simple actions that achieve the greatest results.
Consider the following competition – whirly vents have moving parts that wear out, a number of static vents that protrude the roof line are obtrusive and quite ugly. These all need eaves vents to induce airflow, then its highly skeptical whether they work or not. Nothing looks as good, works as well as the SMOOTHLINE Ventilator system.
Whether it's hot or cold, your problems are solved.
FEATURES- The SMOOTHLINE Ventilator system unobtrusive highly effective blends into the overall look of the roof.
- The breakthrough invention that delivers the most cost effective solution to roof ventilation.
- Providing ventilation to the roof cavity all year round.
- Provides entry and exit points within the roof for hot moist and/or stale air to evacuate the roof cavity to the outside atmosphere.
- Static, has no moving parts, uses no energy. Powered by natural convection currents air flows currents and the venturi effect.
- Air conditioning and energy costs are significantly reduced.
- Natural.
- Energy saving.
- Unobtrusive.
- Highly effective.
- Greenwise.
- A system that really works
HOW IT WORKS
An opening is cut into the roof sheet from the bottom line of the ridgecapping, the ventilator slips up under the ridgecapping and has an opening underneath which aligns perfectly with the opening in the roof sheet to allow air to enter and evacuate the roof space and is fixed to the roof sheet with rivets to completion, another ventilator is fixed on the opposite side below the ridgecapping in the opposing position.
This completes the system which allows free air flow currents to enter either ventilator and hotter stale air to evacuate either ventilator via convection currents and the venturi effect.
This product is environmentally friendly resulting in significant reductions in temperature, condensation and energy costs.
HOW MANY DO I NEED?
2 to 4 for Smoothline Ventilators are required for a small house,
4 to 6 for a medium house, and
6 to 8 for much larger houses.
BEATS THE SUMMER HEAT & WINTER AND SUMMER CONDENSATION, MOULD & MILDEW PROBLEMS.
Make your home more energy efficient and your energy bills go down
FRESH AIR: The cure for sick buildings
Australian homes and offices are a major contributor to greenhouse gases and sick building syndrome and a bit of fresh air might just be the answer.
"It's time we moved back to getting natural ventilation into our homes and offices," says Chief of CSIRO Building Construction Engineering, Mr Larry Little, " Our daily exposure to toxins emitted from indoor products like building materials, office furniture and paints may be costing Australia as much as $12 billion a year due to ill health and lost production."
"Some of todays new homes are sealed so well to keep them cool in summer and warm in winter that fresh air changes may not occur often. This can contribute to increases in asthma by providing ideal breeding conditions for dust mites," Mr Little says.
Common pollutants from materials, people, activities and contents used to build and furnish the home, combined with excess moisture from poor ventilation, can create an unhealthy environment.
Too much moisture can contribute to allergy problems and structural damage by encouraging the growth of mould, mildew, bacteria, dust mites, dry rot and insects. Showers, cooking and people produce large quantities of moisture on a daily basis.
Control of these factors through proper ventilation will enhance the comfort and indoor air quality of the home to help keep occupants breathing safely. A quality ventilation system also contributes to preserving to structural integrity of the home, reducing maintenance costs and adding to the homes value.
