A Brief History
Hudson Building Supplies
Five generations of Hudsons have been involved in the industry since the company began in 1846, just six years after the transportation of convicts to NSW had ceased. A. Hudson Pty Ltd was held by the family until the mid 1980's when the Harrison & Crosfield plc Group purchased their operations along with a number of other retail merchant businesses.
In 1994 a new public company, Hudson Timber and Hardware, was incorporated. This new company continued to trade until 2003 when a Management buy out of the Hardware side of the business saw the creation of Hudson Building Supplies.
The long history of Hudson testifies to the philosophy of its founders:

Hudson provides a complete range of timber, hardware and building materials for home improvement projects. Staff in Hudson Home Improvement centres offer practical advice and personal assistance, and will supply free project sheets and relevant product information.
Whether the project is repairing a floor, replacing a door, lining a wall, adding a pergola or carport, landscaping the garden or adding a room, Hudson can help.
To complement the active assistance provided to home improvers, Hudson can also arrange professional tradesmen to complete any home improvement project.

Our IT infrastructure supporting all our stores and sales staff is exceptional.
Our robust unix based system allows us to
- Run centralised quoting for all jobs large and small - You only need to remember 1 phone number for your state to place an order/quote, modify or make an enquiry on an existing order.
- Real-time stock on hand listings - Our staff can accuratley tell you if what you want is available or when we can get it.
- Up to the minute reporting of all other stores progress and stock quantities throughout the eastern states.
All IT staff have over 10 years experience in IT support and are continually undergoing training to build experience and give us the edge and keep all systems running at their optimum ensuring the stores can better service you, the customer.

With an excellent coverage of the eastern states we are well situated to support your construction projects.
All of our stores use a variety of delivery vehicles from 8 tonnes crane trucks, 2 tonne trucks and utes so that every delivery, planned or emergency can be catered for.
Our team have all had extensive experience in the building supplies industry with each of our managers having over 20 years experience in supporting the home builder market.
