SERVICES
The following is a list of materials that termites will attack in new or older homes:
Timber framing (including treated pine and Cypress pine)
Gyprock (cardboard covering both sides)
Smoothedge (holds carpet to floor)
Door frames
Window frames
Architraves
Electrical wiring
Conduit
Kitchen cupboards
Most builders today only use minimum termite protection in new homes, i.e. treated timber or Cypress framing. Treated framing cannot protect a home from termite attack and only offers small benefits to consumers - “Whole of Home” protection from termites not being one of them!
It also will not stop termites from entering your new home from cracks in the concrete floor or by following any services that penetrate the floor or come in via the footing.
Physical barriers also do not kill termites. Only chemical barriers will give you true termite protection as they kill termites on contact.
Is your biggest investment being put at risk by builders who don’t care enough to at least advise you to go the extra distance and install a chemical re-treatable barrier to your new home? Why not consider the Slabset system for a barrier that will last fifty years AND is re-treatable.
