Window Repair Services

Window repair professionals can repair all types of windows, from older-style windows to modern sliding windows.  If you are finding it difficult to slide your windows up and down, a professional will replace the sash balances.  If the sliding window is hard to open, the professional will replace the rollers or wheels.  This can also be done with hard to open sliding doors.

If you have older style windows, it is also possible to have the window winders on these replaced so that it is easier to open and close the windows.  If security is a concern, these windows can be fitted with unobtrusive locks.

Of course, professionals are able to replace broken glass panels, re-seal windows and replace the window altogether.  Replacing or moving a window may be an option if the window is in an unsuitable place.  Incorrectly placed or sized windows can affect the heating, cooling and views within your home.

If you wish to insulate your home against the heat, cold and noise, then a professional is able to double glaze your windows.  Double glazed windows are simply windows that have two panes of glass that are stuck together with a glaze.  A professional can modify your existing windows to make them double glazed.

Other Services

Window repair professionals also provide other services such as installing splashbacks, installing and replacing shower screens, installing cat and dog doors, enclosing patios and insurance work.

Glass splashbacks are becoming increasingly popular in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries and can even be used to create feature walls.  Some advantages of installing a glass splashback include that they are easy to clean, they can be coated in almost any colour to suit your home’s décor, and the reflective surface creates a feeling of space.  Splashbacks should only be installed by professionals.

Shower screens can be either sliding or pivoted depending on the space available and your needs and can be framed or unframed to suit the style of the bathroom.  All shower screens should be made from reinforced glass for safety.

Cat and dog doors can be installed in your glass sliding door by a professional and the professional will install doors that are specially designed to fit into the glass.

Hiring a Window Repair Professional

The window repair professional should be qualified and experienced.  Ask for at least three quotes on your job before selecting a professional so that you can get an idea of how much the job should cost.  However, remember that the cheapest quote may not always be the best so it is better to base your decision on how comfortable you are with the professional.  If possible, try to get some references or examples of previous work that has been carried out.
