Metal and Colorbond make durable and versatile roofs, due to the inherent strength and resilience. But like any roof, they do require maintanence and repair.
Roof membranes or sealing are the most common methods used to maintain a metal or Colorbond roof. This will ensure that fungus and moulds do not establish themselves, though if they do chlorine or bleach are used to remove them. If a metal and Colorbond roof is damaged and needs repair, it is often patched at the site of the leak. If there are a number of leaks it is often easier to patch an entire sheet of metal. Leaks often develop at the seams or where the roofing joins flashing or guttering. A patch is usually utilised to cover a localised leak in a metal roof, and is from the same metal or Colorbond of the original roofing. Metal screws are used to affix the patch and then sealed to prevent any further leakage.
