Types of Kitchen Taps

• Mixer taps: This style of tap mixes both hot and cold water together via a lever or screw tap.
• Pull out taps/sprayers: These types of kitchen taps have a hose that either sits on a mount or retracts back. The hose is attached to one main outlet and they can have two taps or one.
• Bridge tap: The conventional type of tap, predominantly using the screw mechanism.
• Wall mount: These are attached to the wall, keeping the sink clear. They can have single or dual handles.
• Bridge mixer taps: Including three tubes that connect to the one outlet, hot water can be turned on from one side, cold water from the other, and then there is a mix of the two.
• Pillar taps: This type of tap comes in a high-necked design. There is a single opening and two taps. The handle is on the top.
• Water efficient taps: Low-flow taps ensure less water is released whilst still maintaining a similar level of water pressure.

Ensure that all plumbing follows relevant building codes. It’s also important to look into the water rating a tap has. A flow restrictor or aerator on a tap can decrease water consumption to less than a third of a normal tap. Also consider the warranty of the equipment.
