Everything you need to know about finding a kitchen appliance supplier

Kitchen Appliances

Kitchen appliances play a primary functional part of any household. By the push of a button workloads are made easier leaving us with much more time to focus on important things. Technological advances in manufacturing appliances have left us spoilt for choice. The most difficult decision we may face is deciding which particular appliance will work well in our kitchens.

Price normally dictates the quality and functionality options of a particular appliance. With smaller appliances, like toasters, it do not make too much of a difference. It is with larger appliances such as washing machines and fridges were the difference is most notable. More expensive options offer smart appliances which are fitted with computerised software. Fridges, for example, can self regulate temperatures without ever having to be defrosted. Some of the latest models are even enabled to connect to the Internet where users can do online shopping and download recipes.

Our kitchens are one of the most important and public areas in our homes. Often, it is the place where we can show off our style and were our personalities shine through. The range of available appliances is therefore not the only factor we need to consider.

Considerations

Consider the following:
  • Your budget

  • Your requirements

  • Your style

  • Available space

  • Environment
You will find a range of appliances on sale even within your available budget. Generally, white appliances are much cheaper than their stainless steel or coloured counterparts. Does the appliance compliment your style and the rest of the kitchen’s decor?

Also determine if the particular appliance will fit into the available designated space. This is particularly important for large appliances. With dishwashers and washing machines, are there enough room when the appliance is opened? Will the appliance be integrated and hid away behind cabinet doors? New manufacturing innovations also allow appliances to remain flush with countertops or standard openings. Examples include shallow depth range hoods and refrigerators which often protrude from a standard opening.

Finally, with Australia’s support in lowering damaging greenhouse emissions, are you considering more environmentally friendly appliances? Some appliances using alternative energy fuels may be available. Examples include electric induction or gas cooktops which uses far less energy to operate.

Smart Environmental Choices

Environmentally friendly alternatives are great. Not everyone can necessarily afford them or have the infrastructure to utilise them.

Cooking
Gas appliances are your most green option. Microwaves are more energy efficient than traditional stove tops and ovens. This is followed by electric induction cooktops or frying pans as the appliance is heated at a much faster rate, using less energy than conventional types.

Cooling

By simply considering the needs of your household you can greatly reduce the energy usage of the appliance. Larger fridges or those featuring icemakers or water dispensers will obviously require more energy to run. They make a dramatic impact to your kitchen, but smaller units may be more sufficient. A good guide is always to compare the energy ratings of appliances. More efficient appliances will have more stars, and therefore produces lower greenhouse gases.

Dishwashers
Dishwashers are a great kitchen accessory. Use a cold water connection as it will use less energy for heating water.

Choosing a Supplier

If you have a tight budget and you are looking at entry level appliances, it is recommended that you go for a familiar brand. Read some online reviews on unfamiliar brands making the purpose. Speaking to a sales assistant may also be helpful. Reputable retailers will ensure that staff is properly trained to provide adequate information on appliances. Most importantly, ensure that guarantees and warrantees are received, and filed in a safe place.
