Everything you need to know about finding a holland blinds supplier

Holland blinds, also known as roller blinds, operate by rolling up and down. They serve many functions, including sun protection, UV filtering, energy efficiency and privacy. Although a classic window furnishing, Holland blinds have undergone recent innovation and are a popular choice in many homes today. When choosing a Holland blind, do not choose on appearance alone. It’s important to not overlook their functional qualities as well.

Types of Holland Blinds

  • Light qualities. Holland blinds come in a range of fabrics, providing block out and sun filtering/screening qualities. Sunscreen blind fabric includes an openness factor that filters or diffuses light. The openness factor on a blind refers to how tight or open the weave is. Sunscreen blinds are particularly useful at reducing glare when watching television or using the computer. They also reduce the amount of fading that occurs in furnishings due to sunlight exposure.
  • Single or dual roller. The traditional Holland blind is in single roller form. A recent innovation, however, is the dual or double Holland blind. In these systems, two blinds are used, allowing for block out and sun screening when required. They also save space and are easily installed.
  • Decoration and trimmings. Holland blinds can be decorated with a range of different trims. One of the most popular is the exposed aluminium bottom rail.
  • Operation. Holland blinds come in manual or motorised form. In terms of the manual system, spring and chain control are the two common types. The spring control system is a pull down and snap release system, easy for lifting. The chain control is perfect for hard to reach blinds.
  • Colours and styles. A Holland blind can be custom made in any style or colour and can be made to look modern or classic. The classic style often incorporates scalloping and fringing at the bottom of the blind. Fabrics can be a stiffer or softer type, depending upon your choice.
  • Position. A modern day Holland blind can be fitted inside the window frame or on the architrave. If fitted on the recess, light will enter from above and the sides. If fitted on the architrave, more light will be blocked out.

Holland Blinds Supply and Installation

Holland blinds can be bought off-the-shelf or custom made at specialty home furnishing stores and home improvement centres, depending upon your requirements. If you have a hard-to-fit window or would like to purchase a custom made blind to match existing furnishings, consulting with a specialist blind provider should be your first port of call. Window treatment professionals can measure and tailor make Holland blinds according to your distinct requirements. They will advise you of your options and help you to choose one that’s right for you and your home.
