Slashing is a way of mowing large properties that have very long and/or thick grass. It is much better than mowing as mowers are often not able to cope with the tough, long, thick grass that can grow and it is not only a tedious exercise trying to mow but you can actually damage your mower or it can stop working altogether.
Slashing uses handheld machinery or a special machine that is capable of cutting the growth down quickly and easily. Different sized machinery is available and the slashing machine is often hitched to a tractor.
You may need to slash your property if the grass is too long and presents a danger (snakes hiding inside etc), if your block needs to be cleared according to council regulations, or if you are going to use the area for something (building, adding an entertainment area etc).
There is special slashing or gardening companies that are outfitted to do the job. Before hiring one, ensure that they are fully insured and registered and that the machines are operated by qualified professionals. The company should regularly service and maintain their equipment. Before any slashing is started ask for a comprehensive quote.
