Fabric protection is applied to carpets or upholstery after they have been thoroughly cleaned using professional steam cleaning or dry cleaning methods. These products are designed to create a barrier on top of the carpet or upholstery in order to repel liquids, stains, or soil from sticking to the fibre. This makes cleaning up the carpet in the event of spillage or staining much easier, and it is less likely that permanent damage will be done. What you may not know is that applying fabric protection to your carpets also makes everyday vacuuming easier and more effective!
The most commonly known fabric protection product is Scotchguard but there are many other products available. What is used on your carpet and upholstery will be what your professional is familiar with and feels will work best in your situation.
