Building inspections are a necessary element when you are buying a new home, or even in your existing home, just to make sure that there is nothing wrong that could end up costing you big bucks in repairs. These inspections can be performed by building consultants. Find out more.
Building consultants will perform a building inspection if you are thinking about buying a new property or just want to check on your existing property. The purpose is to get a detailed assessment on the condition of the property and let you know what repairs are required if any, and how urgent they are. You will get all of this information in the building inspection report, which should meet the relevant Australian Standard (AS 4349.1).
The building consultant will check the inside and outside of the building, inside the roof, under the floors, the outside of the roof, the site itself, the driveways, retaining walls, additional buildings (such as sheds or garages) and the wiring and plumbing. The building inspection will not cover looking for termites, or give you an estimate of the cost of the repairs. Minor defects are also generally not included.
