Everything you need to know about finding a bath business

Is your bath looking a little less than its best? Don’t go to the expense of replacing the bathtub as you’d be surprised at how great a professional bath resurfacing can be. Read on for more info.

Why Resurface the Bath?

If your bath is looking worn, scratched, chipped, stained, or is simply the wrong colour, it can really bring down the look of the bathroom and make it feel tired and dated. It used to be that your only option was to rip out the bathtub and replace it with a brand new one but now, with bath resurfacing, you can resurface your existing bathtub so that it looks brand new! Best of all, it’s a fraction of the cost to resurface rather than replace.

About Bath Resurfacing

Before the bath resurfacing can begin, it is important that all rust is removed and that damage such as chips or other surface imperfections is completely repaired. This ensures that the new surface is effective. Once the repairs are done, the existing surface is prepared and a bonding agent is applied so that the new surface will adhere firmly to the bathtub. The new finish is cured by heat, and then polished. As well as resurfacing the tub itself, the professional should re-caulk the joins between the bathtub and the wall, and clean all bath fixtures (tapware etc). Be aware that the whole process can take up to two days, and you cannot use the bathroom in that time as the area needs to be kept dry while the finish is applied and cured.

You can resurface many different types of bathtubs including porcelain, vitreous enamel, acrylic, gel coat, and old coated surfaces. Be aware that resurfacing the bath may not be appropriate if the bathtub is in extremely poor condition. The resurfacing professional will advise you if this is the case.

Hiring a Bath Resurfacing Professional

A bath resurfacing should be done by a professional to ensure the best finish. When looking at finding someone, one important thing you should look at is the length of warranty that they provide on the new bath surface. Ensure that the professional uses approved and safe resurfacing products. The professional should also be fully insured.
