Builder Helps A Tradie
As the industry gears up to help the fire victims of Black Saturday, Darryn Bass from True Blue Homes quietly went about helping a tradie who had lost the lot. The recent devastation of Black Saturday reminded Darryn Bass of his own family tragedies from Ash Wednesday and his first reaction was to ask “How can we help?”

Darryn went to Whittlesea to offer support and ended up talking to the local CFA crew and left his card. It was blatantly obvious some local trades had lost the lot and were in need of help immediately. They had nothing left… no house, no car, no trailer and no tools.

Workman's Trailers Help In Bushfire Relief
HIA have joined with The Trailer Factory in donating tradesmen's trailers to HIA members and bushfire victims. Travis Buckland and Lloyd Butler, pictured at The Trailer Factory's Kilsyth base, were the latest recipients of trailers.

HIA thanks Graham Jones and the team at The Trailer Factory for their kind donation, and Darryn Bass of True Blue Homes for co-ordinating the project.

We wish all our members affected by the bushfires well in their recovery and encourage you to contact HIA if you require any support.

In May of 2006 we decided to extend our existing living area of our home and fully renovate our kitchen and laundry at the above premises. We set about obtaining quotes from various builders that were recommended by our planning draftsman, for which one of these was Darryn Bass from True Blue Homes.

We met Darryn and his team of builders when they visited our home to conduct the initial quotation review and were immediately impressed with their thoroughness, professionalism and friendly approach.

Dear Darryn,

I am writing to let you know that Shane and I have decided not to go ahead with the second storey extension on our Hope Street property, and will be selling the house instead. There are number of reasons why, but the most compelling was the fear that Shane had in not being able to cope with too many things going on in the space of one year. Your advice, on the other hand, was really appreciated by me. I know that you dislike the 'back of an envelope' costing of a job, however it was critical for me to be able to make the right decision for us both at this time.

Having said all that, there is a great chance of whatever house we move into, will also need renovation work, however it is more likely to be a ground-floor job and so little more palatable financially. We will certainly be contacting your company again, should this situation arise.

I have spoken to Nik about the designs for the extension, and he has agreed to complete a simple layout drawing the extension as we were intending (with the additional space above the downstairs bathroom). I am suggesting that this design work is completed to provide your company with an advertising outlest as we can provide your details to prospective buyers through the open inspection. If you would prefer not to do this, just let me know.

For your information, Nik was a delight to work with, and excellent at working with a client spinning off many ideas of her own. So thank you.

To whom it may concern

In June 2010 we decided to put an extension on our home consisting of a bedroom with ensuite & walk in robe.
We sourced several quotes and decided to go with True Blue Homes. Due to their prompt response to our enquiry and professional approach.

After a meeting with Darryn Bass from True Blue Homes, to discuss the layout and fixtures etc. we also decided to have a double car port built as well.

The end result was that Darryn and his team did an excellent job, with the extension and carport, we were always kept up to date with the progress of construction, and only best quality materials and fittings were used, the job was finished in 6 weeks well under the quoted time frame.

We would not hesitate to recommend True Blue Homes to anyone wanting a professional extension done on their home.
