Welcome to the AIB
The Australian Institute of Building (AIB), Incorporated by Royal Charter, enjoys a long and proud history of supporting and serving the building profession. For more than fifty years AIB has worked within the building and construction industry, government, the education sector and related stakeholders to achieve its objectives.
To advance the interests of its membership AIB enjoys strategic links with organisations such as the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF), Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC), Construction & Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC), Certifire, NATSPEC, Standards Australia and the National Building & Surveying Alliance (NBSA). AIB also has a formal alliance agreement with the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB).
Building & Construction Industry Research
A priority for the Australian Institute of Building (AIB)
Members of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) are involved in a range of building projects designed to support best-practice building techniques and innovative approaches to project management. AIB directly funds the following research initiatives:
- AIB Building Research & Education Foundation
- Australasian Journal of Construction Economics & Building
A major priority for AIB is to bring building professionals, university academics and research bodies together to undertake research that will produce tools that can be used by the building profession. AIB supports the following research bodies:
- Cooperative Research Centre for Construction Innovation
- International Alliance for Interoperability
- Internat. Council for Research & Innovation in Building & Construction
The close relationship that AIB has with the nation's principal building research body, the CRC for Construction Innovation, allows members to play an active role in research activities in Australia and overseas. If this is of interest send an email to
