The Swimming Pool & Spa Association of New South Wales Ltd (SPASA) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to maintaining and improving standards within the industry for the betterment of consumers, pool builders and suppliers.

The Swimming Pool and Spa Association of New South Wales Ltd (SPASA) is made up of individuals and businesses from the swimming pools and spa industry.
SPASA members set themselves apart from the rest of the industry by setting standards of skill, workmanship and ethical business behavior in the best interests of pool and spa owners.
What does SPASA do?
SPASA is committed to self regulation of the pool and spa industry and is represented on technical and government committees such as;
- Standards Association of Australia
- The National Registration Authority
- The Office of Fair Trading
- The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA)
- The Consumer Tenancy and Trade Tribunal (CTTT)
Setting Standards
By having representation on various government and Standards Australia committees, SPASA has been able to ensure that any changes to standards have been of maximum benefit to both industry members and consumers.
Training Course Information
SPASA employs a fully accredited training liason officer who conducts regular training courses. These include:
- OH&S - a 5 hour Course for OH&S in construction
- IC-1 - a 2 day (16 hour) Introductory Course to the industry
- AC-1 - a 5 day (40 hour) Technicians Course
Single module days of the AC-1 course are available upon request. Subjects include:
Safety (8 hours)
- Water treatment & chemistry (8 hours)
- Hydraulics & filtration (8 hours)
- Heating Gas/Solar & Electric (4 hours)
- Equipment, cleaners, chemical dosing, lighting (4 hours)
- Pratical - On site at a pool centre experiencing practical activities (8 hours)
