RETTKE BUILDERS
Welcome to RETTKE BUILDERS
Over the past few years we have specialized in mainly architectural new works of which most have been quite unusual and challenging in design.
We pride ourselves on a quality job with a quality finish. This requires the help of a number of sub trades, manufacturers & suppliers all as equally skilled as our own people. We also pride ourselves on having all the tools & equipment required to complete the job from start to finish. Apprentices have been an important part of the business and we have made a point of employing at least one apprentice at any one time.
ABOUT US
Tony and Judy Rettke started the business over 28 years ago, building homes and renovations of quality workmanship which was quickly recognised amongst locals and employing many apprentices along the way. Today Rettke Builders have come a long way; we currently have 4 full time employees, Two Leading Hands and two carpenters, all under Tony’s watchful eye for detail and outstanding finish.
On A Personal Note
Tony & Judy are also very community minded being active patrolling Surfclub members. Tony is currently the Far South Coast President of Surf Life Saving and the Vice President of Tathra SLSC, Judy is the Chief Training Officer for Tathra and the Deputy Director of Surf Sports, FSC Branch. Tony & Judy and all of their 5 sons are patrolling members and competitors in 3 separate States. Tony & Judy were also heavily involved with the Scouting movement, having 5 sons, and were the Bega Scout Leaders for the over 10 years.

AWARD WINNING PROJECTS:
Rettke Builders are now finalist in the Australian HIA Housing Awards, which will be held at the Gold Coast in May of this year for the Category of Special Purpose Housing of the Year.
They took out three of the major awards at the 2011 HIA-CSR ACT/Southern NSW Housing Awards, winning South Coast Home of the Year, Coastal Home of the Year and Special Purpose Housing of the Year for the very impressive home built especially for Toby Hale of Tathra.
The house was designed by Michael Marshman & Associates and constructed by Tony’s exceptional team of skilled tradesman, lead by one of Tony’s Foreman, Frank Engemann.
Having been confined to a motorized wheelchair since childhood, Toby desired a house that would facilitate his independence and freedom, as well as provide a home for his turtle and school of fish.
His home is robust and masculine providing stimulation, exercise, shelter, views and access that enables him to connect easily with essential local facilities such as the local supermarket, post office and pub. From his upper level living space Toby can observe coastal shipping movements, the annual whale migration, the passage of clouds overhead, how the surf is breaking and his fish in surprising places throughout the house.
