Maiden Hair Tree
Gingko Landscaping was named after the Maiden Hair Tree.

A tree which may to the layman seem out of place among conifers nevertheless belongs here by virtue of the similarity of its flowering characteristics to other conifers. It is a unique tree in many respects and is in fact the only surviving member of a large order of plants that was once wide spread but now exists only as fossilised remains.

This most elegant tree, so-named because each leaf resembles on a giant scale the pinules of the maidenhair fern, provides excellent shade from early spring to fall and then changes slowly from its fresh green to a uniform bright-yellow colour that never fails to impress. Young plants may put on up to I m (3ft) of growth in a season, but with age the tree slows down to an annual increment of about 20cm (8in) a year. One of the largest specimens in England is 30m(lOOft) high and was planted over 200 years ago.
