Building Surveying defined
Building Surveyors are responsible for making sure buildings are safe, energy efficient, accessible and meet all legal requirements.
They evaluate and assess plans, conduct inspections and issue building permits for example, occupancy permits.
AIBS mission
To promote and develop the professional standing of Members, while contributing to health, safety and amenity of the built environment.
AIBS structure
The AIBS is a limited by guarantee company registered with ASIC.
It is a single national company not a federation of state bodies. It is controlled by a national Board of Directors elected from the Membership.
The AIBS has offices and paid staff in each state to support the efforts of volunteer participants. Staff support the activities of state and national committees and carry out the policies set by the Board. They report to the Chief Executive who is based in the AIBS national office in Sydney.
AIBS activities and services
The AIBS is a membership body with over 40 years of experience. It serves the community, the building surveying profession and importantly the needs of individual Members.
