There are many reasons why people consider having there swimming pools removed.
With the changes in the Australian climate and water becoming a precious commodity the use of water has to be assessed.
The State and Local Governments have implemented water restrictions that vary from locations throughout Victoria. Some country areas have very scarce limited access to water and in some cases there local shires are having it brought in to replenish the town supplies.
Here in Melbourne we are currently at 3a restrictions and that has affected the way in which people with pools can refill them. Bucket by bucket can be very time consuming and to buy in water to refill it can be costly. The average size to fill can cost around $1500.
The expense on pool maintenance with a monthly pool maintenance service and the cost of chemicals can also put a strain on household budget. Not to mention those that spend their precious time looking after the pool themselves. The ever increasing cost for heating is something to consider.
Statistics released by Life Saving Victoria for 2006/2007 have shown that there were 37 unintentional drownings which occurred last year and of that number 14 occurred in the home environment.
Children from 0-4 years of age are at most risk, however deaths of children aged 5-14 has also increased.
As much as parents want to be by the backyard pool to supervise there kids there are times when it can be hard to do. It only takes a split second for a tragedy to occur. The grief of losing a loved one is hard to bear.
Not only can we loose our child but family pets are also at risk, our dog is not a great swimmer and fell in twice, luck for us we were there to save him.
The trend today with new housing estates is for smaller backyards and having the family home entertainment system. There was an article in the Melbourne Herald Sun that commented on how “swimming pools were no longer fashionable”. When children leave home the burden of the pool normally falls on Mum and Dad to deal with or as you get a little older and you’re not using it much.
A1 POOL – REFERENCE TESTIMONIALS
Dale recently filled in our pool and did a very good job in a very timely fashion. We are very pleased with the outcome and now have a yard for our children to play in. For us it has been a very worthwhile decision and Dale’s approach, and thoroughness was appreciated. He was also able to do this for us quite quickly, and within 3 days the job was complete. I would certainly recommend him to others who are considering removing their pool.
Ps. We now have grass and it’s great.

Thank you very much for your great work in filling in our house’s existing concrete in-ground pool.
Being of a substantial size (12mx6m) and with the concrete spa section well above the ground this was a significant piece of work which you completed in a matter of a few days. Your professional and friendly manner and the excellent advice during the process was very much appreciated and was of significant benefit to us.
The removal of the pool has made a big difference to our house – (we believe) increased its value, provided a large space for our children to play in, and removed a possible danger to them. Even after one month, and being in summer, grass has already commenced growing in the space which is no doubt in part due to the good quality top soil used as part of your job.
Thanks again for your great work.

My wife and I would like to thank you for removing our in-ground pool last month. With a hyperactive child in the house, it has been a tremendous relief to see the pool filled in.
As this is our first home, I must confess we were nervous about the whole process and unsure about what the outcome would be. Much of that disappeared after we met you; your understanding of our concerns and the trouble you took to carefully explain every step of the three-day process left no doubt in my mind that getting rid of the pool was the right thing to do and, indeed, that you were the right person to do it. We appreciate the professionalism with which you conducted the task, making it an entirely painless experience.
A month later, we are delighted at the results. The pool that took up most of the backyard has been replaced with grass, which has made the backyard a much more enjoyable space in our home.
Maintaining a pool is a cumbersome exercise and with current water restrictions in place, an expensive one as well. Moreover, the statistics for childhood fatalities that occur in backyard swimming pools tell a gruesome tale of how unsafe pools can be. Whether motivated by monetary or safety concerns, I have no doubt that many homeowners in Melbourne would find it attractive to get rid of their pool.
To those who decide to do so, based on my experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending your services.
