Are you looking for a window treatment that’s stylish, elegant, is available in a huge range of designs and is great for privacy? Window films may be the perfect solution for you. Here’s what you need to know (for general information see
windows).
What is Window Frosting?
Window frosting is a type of tint that is applied directly to the glass of your windows, or other glass surfaces, in order to create a decorative look that also gives privacy. Because the frosting gives your existing glass the look and feel of frosted glass, people cannot easily see it. This makes it a great, cost effective option for creating privacy from your neighbours or innocent passersby, or even from other people in your home (in the bathroom, you could apply it to the shower screen for example). Because window frosting does not rely on blocking out light in order to create privacy, you can create a private space that still feels light and airy. Be aware that window frosting gives you minimal protection from UV rays.
Options in Window Frosting
Window frosting is actually a very versatile treatment for your window glass. There is a huge range of designs for you to choose from, from simple patterns or solid blocks through to ornate, custom designed works. Some examples of designs include repeating patterns such as those you find on wallpaper, plant shapes, abstract shapes, logos, wording, or anything else you can think of. The frosting itself can be near see through or completely opaque, so you can choose the level of frosting that is right for your particular situations. The frosting can be installed inside or outside the home.
You can choose to install the frosting yourself but you may benefit from a professional’s help, especially if you have curved glass surfaces or awkward window shapes.
