More About PVC Windows
Windows are an essential part of the home for admitting natural light and providing ventilation as well as a view to the outside world, but there's no reason that your windows should be drab and boring. There is a huge range of window dressings available to ensure that your windows are not only functional but beautiful.
Window dressings perform a number of functions such as helping with insulation (blocking heat from entering the home), providing privacy, letting in or blocking out light, and also looking attractive. Window dressings should be a way for you to express a little bit of your own personal style. You can choose from everything from ornate baroque styles right through to ultra modern styles – it's only limited by your budget and imagination!
There are many different kinds of window dressings, and what you choose depends on the look you like and the amount of work you are prepared to undergo. Some styles include:
Venetian blinds
These can be horizontal or vertical and they are generally made from fabric, plastic, vinyl, aluminium or wood.
Pull down shades/roller blinds
Made from canvas or other materials, these can be raised or lowered as needed. These can look a little plain on their own but look fantastic with additional dressing such as sheer curtains.
Curtains
These can be made from a huge range of fabrics including block out, cotton, lace, polyester, and so on.
Drapes
These are made from heavier, more expensive, and more durable fabrics than curtains such as silk, wool, or special synthetic fabrics. These are often teamed with sheer curtains.
Blinds
Some types of blinds include panel drapes which have panels that slide across the window, honeycomb blinds (which are great for insulation), pleated blinds (these have small horizontal pleats to create an accordion effect), and roman blinds(these have flat folds or tear drop style folds, depending on the look you're after).
Shutters Shutters are attractive and great for privacy, security and insulation. They are available in wood, aluminium or vinyl.
It is not just about the window dressing themselves though as what they are paired with makes a difference. Pairing window dressings with window accessories such as tie backs, valances, pelmets, and decorative curtain rods can really improve the look of your window dressings and make them feel "complete".
