About Gas Wall Furnaces

A gas wall furnace is a type of heating system.  It is a slimline furnace that is mounted on the wall to heat either one room or two rooms (depending on if it’s single or double sided) and it is powered using natural or bottled gas.  The wall furnace can be fully ducted to the outside so you don’t have to worry about fumes building up in your living spaces but it is also available in an unvented model. Unvented models have indicators that show if the carbon monoxide levels are reaching dangerous levels but you should always be careful to use them in well ventilated rooms, regardless.

Gas wall furnaces project heat directly into the room in which they are installed.  They work by drawing in cool air through the top of the furnace, heating the air in a chamber, and then blowing the heated air out into the room from the bottom louvres.  The air is circulated using an electric fan.  They come in two different sizes, a smaller and a larger model.

Advantages of Gas Wall Furnaces

There are a few advantages to choosing gas wall furnaces as your new heating system. The first is that they can heat up larger rooms with ease, making them perfect for open plan living areas, where regular space heaters may struggle. If you choose a two sided model, you can heat two rooms at the same time, giving you greater flexibility.  For example, you could heat the kitchen and dining room on one side, and the lounge room on the other.  The gas wall furnace is operated using a simple control panel located high on the device.  You can set the furnace to heat the room to your desired comfort level.

Because they use natural gas, you can be assured that your gas wall furnace is actually quite an efficient form of heating. They burn the gas cleanly to produce heat, and the cost of gas is usually much lower than the cost of electricity.  While electricity is needed to power the fan, very little is used, so it does not add much on to the cost of operating the heater at all.
