Every home should have a clothesline for drying your clothes. Not only will you save money, but your clothes will last longer if they are line dried. One choice is to use a mounted clothesline. Here’s why.
What is a Mounted Clothesline?
A mounted clothesline is one that is affixed to a surface, such as a wall or a fence. Fixing to a wall is preferable in most cases. It can be fixed in place, or it can be retractable, that is, pulled out when needed. Mounted clotheslines that are fixed in place can be permanently extended (always out) or they can be folding, so that you can raise and lower the clothesline as needed. Retractable clotheslines fold back into their cassette when they are not being used but they do require a wall on either side to be able to be used.
An Unobtrusive Clothesline
The best part about using a mounted clothesline in comparison to a traditional rotary clothesline is that they are incredibly unobtrusive. That is, they can be folded away and hidden when they are not being used, and in most cases, you’d hardly even know that they were there! Unobtrusive clotheslines are becoming more popular as house sizes get bigger and backyards get smaller as you are not wasting any valuable outdoor space.
Enjoy Space Efficiency
If you have a small backyard or just don’t want to tie up a lot of space with a clothesline, a mounted clothesline is very space efficient. That is, you can put the clothesline anywhere you like – on a balcony, between your house and fence, underneath a carport, on the side of a shed, and so forth. All you need is enough space to extend the clothesline when you want to use it! Essentially, you can use space that would just otherwise be dead, wasted space.
Another benefit of mounted clotheslines is that they are very cost effective. That is, they can be cheaper to buy and install than other types of clotheslines, depending on the style that you get and the size that you choose. This means that you can either choose to buy a better clothesline for the same amount of money as you’d spend on a lesser type, or you can spend the extra money in your home or garden as you choose.
Choosing a Clothesline Size
Many people think that mounted clotheslines are simply just a bit too small but this is really not true. Mounted clotheslines come in a huge range of sizes to suit anywhere from people living alone to large families. You can also have them custom made to fit into the area where you will be installing it. This is great if a standard size won’t fit or looks a bit awkward!
