Topic: Glass Balustrades
Glass balustrades are the perfect option for your balcony, stairwells, or pool fencing as they look amazing and allow you to preserve your views. However, just like you would look after any other kind of glass, you also have to look after your glass balustrades to keep them looking their best. Here’s what you need to know.
Cleaning Glass Balustrades
Glass balustrades are low maintenance compared to many other materials but they do need to be cleaned regularly in order to remove dirt and contaminants from the glass and to keep it sparkling clear. You can clean the glass, as well as the powder coated or steel fixings simply by washing them with a mild detergent and a soft cloth. You will need to rinse the detergent off afterwards with fresh water. If you want, you can use a soft cloth to dry the balustrade to a clear, streak free finish. One thing that you need to be aware of when cleaning your glass balustrades is that you shouldn’t use strong cleaning products. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents and do not use products that are alcohol based or acidic in nature.
Protecting Glass Balustrades
Something else that is very handy to do is to apply some form of protection to your glass balustrades. This will stop damage occurring, and also make it much easier to clean your glass. You can treat the glass with a special wax that reduces how often and how long it takes to clean the glass. Another option is to use a protective glass coating.
Check Your Glass Balustrades
Another thing that you will have to do as part of your regular maintenance routine is to regularly give your glass balustrades a once over. The purpose of this is to look for any damaged areas, for any loose fixings or areas of loose glass, to ensure that gates within the balustrades work properly and so on. This check should only take a few minutes and should be done every few months. If you do find anything that needs repairing, it is best to call a professional to come out and do it to ensure that the repair does not cause more damage and that it does not affect the look of the balustrade.
