Combine Lemon with Cream or Neutrals

If you’re after a look that is simple but yet elegant, you can’t go wrong by combing lemon with cream tones.  The cream brings a feeling of timelessness to the room but the lemon yellow just brightens it up and makes it feel happy and sunny.  Alternatively, you can try using other neutral colours such as mocha or more brown toned colours. These work together really well and they create simple yet powerful looks in the room that you use them in.

Use Different Shades of Lemon

If you’re in love with lemon yellow tones, why not be brave and try using different shades of lemon yellow within the room?  You can paint each wall in a different shade or use one shade on the wall and others in the window coverings, accessories or soft furnishings.

Try Using Contrasting Colours

If you like to create dramatic, bold colours in your home, you can’t go past the trick of combining a sunny lemon yellow with a contrasting yet sympathetic colour. A soft mint green is perfect but you can also use deep greens, purples, or any other colour you wish.  If you’re aiming for something dramatically different though, get some sample pots of your chosen colours and paint a board or canvas first to make sure that the two colours really work together.

Use Lemon Accessories

To brighten up a room without making any permanent changes, you can’t go past using lemon accessories.  You could use real or fake lemons but for something a little more subtle, try using cushions or ornaments with touches of lemon yellow in them.  Another idea is to use lemon throws, lemon coloured bowls or vases, or even bright and sunny artworks.  Also try using lemon accessories with other colours such as maroons, blues, greens, and even a bright, crisp white, as the lemon will make these colours really stand out.
