Sweep the Deck Regularly

One of the best ways to keep your composite deck maintained is to simply sweep it regularly.  Sweeping the deck at least weekly will remove all of the dirt and debris that tends to gather on the surface.  If you find that your deck is extra leafy for some reason, a leaf blower can remove larger amounts of leaves very quickly.

Cleaning a Composite Deck

One of the most important steps in maintaining your composite decking is to ensure that the deck is kept clean.  You should give your deck a thorough cleaning a few times a year – a good way to remember is when the seasons change.  Use a good commercial decking cleaner that is rated for use with composite decks.  Follow the instructions that are given with the cleaner to ensure that you don’t accidentally damage the deck.

Clean in Between the Gaps

One thing that all decks have is gaps in between the decking boards.  This can be a haven for tiny bits of gunk to get caught in so it is an excellent idea to spend time at least once a year scraping all of that gunk out.  You can easily do this with an old putty knife or even an old butter knife.  Just be careful to not scratch or gouge the boards accidentally.

Pressure Clean Only When Necessary
