About Magnetic Retractable Screens

Magnetic retractable screens are incredibly easy to operate as they are attached to the inside of the window frame and you simply pull from a corner to remove them when needed.  How do they work?  Simple!  Magnets are attached to both the window frame and the screen itself.  When placed together a strong seal is formed that bugs simple can’t get through.  To open or remove the screen, just peel from the indicated corner and it will just come away.

Cleaning the Screen Itself

Magnetic retractable or insect screens are super easy to clean.  For day to day maintenance, just give them a gentle going over with a feather duster or dusting cloth to remove the dust and dirt that can build up on them.  If you find that the screen is a little too dirty for dusting to be effective, the mesh itself is fully washable.  Just peel the screen completely away from the window and give it a wash in some soapy water and rinse.  When dry, it can go back on the window!  Please note that even if you dust your magnetic screens regularly, you should give them a full wash twice a year or so regardless.

Cleaning the Magnets and Frame

Magnetic retractable screens rely on excellent contact between the magnets in order to work properly so it’s important to keep the surface of the magnets clean.  This is also a very easy process.  Simply remove the screen from the window fully and wipe over the magnetic sealing strips with a clean dry or damp cloth. This should be more than enough to remove any dust and grime.  If you want to, you can use a mild cleaning agent to remove any greasy build up.
