hipages began in a garage back in 2004. Our founders David Vitek and Roby Sharon-Zipser wanted to change the way people searched for quality local businesses so they went about reinventing the online directory concept. They began by starting two specialist websites focusing on home improvements and natural therapies.
They knew that technology would help facilitate this change but had the foresight to know that they needed great people behind that technology to make something truly amazing.
We have come a long way from two guys in a garage but have maintained the same principles, in fact 12 years later and we now have a team of over 280 highly passionate people.
We are really proud of our diversity at hipages and believe our culture greatly contributes to our success as a business.
We want to be thought leaders in the technology industry, help change the lack of diversity typical of our industry and ensure that as we continue to grow, we keep our great culture and further improve our diversity and inclusion.
One of the things that sets us aside from other tech companies is the number of women we employ in roles that are crucial to our business. We want to continue encouraging and attracting females into these roles which is the reasoning behind offering a scholarship specifically for women studying the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) with a digital or web technology focus.
Applicant must be a full-time female student at a college or university.
The scholarship is available to female students in the Bachelor and/or Master studies of science, technology, engineering or maths, entering their second year or above of studies with a digital or web technologies focus.
Female students who are currently undertaking honours studies in the area of Marketing and Technologies will also be considered.
Applicants should be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or have work rights for Australia.
You will need to submit the following 3 documents -
Application: Include information about your passions and why you are choosing to study your STEM subject, that you are looking for in your ideal job once you have finished studying, what this scholarship would mean to you etc. Be sure to include the Uni you are studying at as well as the course you are studying.
Academic transcript: You must have maintained a CPA (credit point average) of credit or above.
Work Task: In addition please also take a look at the different sections of our website and write an analysis of at least 1000 words or more describing what you could do to improve the site relative to the degree you are studying. For example you could be studying graphic design and have ideas around how you could create unique content that would help strengthen our brand and web presence as well as being of use to our audience. Or maybe you are studying web development and have ideas about how our site can be improved in terms of speed or UX design.
Here are some example sections of our site you may choose to analyse for improvements:
We’re the real deal. Straight-up legends who truly care about our customers. We’re super keen listeners, and we always respond with a smile. And it doesn’t hurt that we’re from all over the place – it means we get along with everyone.
We’re bright and curious. We’re tech-heads and thought-leaders. We’re goers against the grain. Our success comes from pushing the envelope, brushing up on our skills, and finding new ways to inspire our customers – and each other, of course.
When we say we’re on it, we’re on it. Service is our passion. Our bread and butter. So we’ll always go the extra mile – whether we’re talking to tradies, customers, industry, investors or other start-ups. We don’t just leave people feeling like we’ve done a good job – we leave them feeling inspired, and knowing they’re in safe hands.
When it comes to value, we don’t hold back. In fact, we can’t help it – it’s simply how we’re built, and what we love doing. We get a kick out of serving our customers and tradies – and making their lives better every step of the way.
We’ve come a long way from two mates working in the back of a garage. And even though we’ve grown into something bigger, how we work is still the same – bouncing ideas around, respecting and listening to each other and paving the way to make hipages better, as a team.
Underpinning our values in the DNA of our business, which is 'Make It Happen'. We're people of action and personally care about a job well done. So when we deliver, we really deliver. Not ego (just the go).
All submitted entries will go through a strict round of checks - being genuine, showing passion and creativity will score you points here.
