Does lazing outside in the shade appeal to you? A hammock may be perfect for you. Read on to learn more.
Believe it or not, there is more than one type of hammock. The most common types of hammocks are as follows:
• Rope – the rope hammock, even though it doesn’t look comfortable, is actually one of the most popular hammocks, if not the most popular. It is generally made up of several dozen ropes that are woven into a pattern, and it is capable of supporting more than one person at a time, depending on the size of the hammock.
• Fabric – these hammocks are made from a variety of fabrics from cotton through to synthetic acrylic materials. They have a variety of names, with some including the Mexican, the Brazilian, and the Hattaras. Fabric hammocks come in a huge range of sizes, from one person to hammocks that are capable of supporting several people, providing that the fixing points are strong enough.
• Chair – the hammock chair is great if you plan to sit up and talk with friends, or if you need to be in a sitting position. It is quite similar to a chair but it is suspended by rope usually.
Once you have purchased the hammock, you will need to decide how to hang it. You can hang it between two trees or poles, or you can opt to use a hammock stand. If you plan to use a stand, you need to make sure that it is the right one for your hammock. Not all hammocks fit all hammock stands. Also check the instructions that come with the hammock or talk to the supplier to see if you will need any special tools in order to hang the hammock. Metal hammock stands are easy to assemble and cost-effective, however they may look a little utilitarian. They are also lightweight, durable, and low maintenance. Wooden hammock stands are elegant but they will require some maintenance. You will probably need to stain it once a year with a water repellent stain.
A few simple accessories can make your hammock even more enjoyable. A hammock pad will convert your hammock into a luxurious outdoor bed. A drink holder will hold your drink, making it great for enjoying a nice cool drink on a lazy day. The hammock caddy will keep all the essentials close to hand. No more will you have to get up to get a mobile, snacks, a book, or sunscreen. A hammock rocking kit consists of a simple rope, pulley, and stabilising stake and allows you to gently swing the hammock yourself. Tie down straps will stop your hammock from spinning in the wind and also from becoming tangled when it is not being used.
