Donít Forget Those Regular Termite Reports

Pest Control

Are you diligent when it comes to protecting your home from termites? How often do you arrange your termite reports? It’s an unfortunate fact that in the past couple of years, many people have found themselves struggling financially, and have found it necessary to cut back expenses wherever they can. But regular termite inspections shouldn’t be on the ‘optional’ expense list because it’s a budget cut back that may leave you much worse off in the future.
In the Sydney region, termite inspections should be conducted at least once a year, and if you live in an area where the termite problem is well known or homes have been damaged in the past, then consideration should be given to scheduling the inspections twice a year, or even investing in a termite barrier or another appropriate termite control solution.

Good Reasons to Keep Up Regular Termite Reports

Many home owners are unaware of just how quickly the types of termites common in this area (subterranean termites) can damage the wooden structure of a home. These troublesome insects live in large colonies, often containing hundreds of thousands of ‘soldier’ termites. They have voracious appetites and if they remain undiscovered in (or under) a home for several months, the damage bill can be in the thousands.
Of course, having your home inspected for timber pests every six or twelve months won’t prevent termites from attacking your home but what it may do is alert you to their presence so that you can arrange termite extermination promptly if need be.
If you want to take termite protection a step further, and you can afford to, then you might consider a more pro-active approach like installing a termite barrier or termite baits, or a combination of the two. This may cost in the vicinity of $3000-5000 for the average suburban home however, if termites are known to be active nearby, it can be a very worthwhile investment.
If, like so many other home owners, you’re struggling financially at the moment, do try to keep up your termite inspections at the very least. It’s an inexpensive measure that could save you from a hefty repair bill for termite damage.
