If you want to take termite protection a step further, and you can afford to, then you might consider a more pro-active approach like installing a termite barrier or termite baits, or a combination of the two. This may cost in the vicinity of $3000-5000 for the average suburban home however, if termites are known to be active nearby, it can be a very worthwhile investment.
