Alicia Draper, Marketing Coordinator for Blum, explains how you can achieve perfect motion and organisation with a custom-designed kitchen.
More About Blum AustraliaOne of the hardest choices in the kitchen is not the appliances or the materials to use, it's the colour. However, there are some things that can make it a bit easier.

Before you take the plunge and choose your colours, there are some ways that you can see how they will look before committing to them (and potentially making a mistake!). if you're utilising the services of a professional designer, they will have software that shows how different colours will look and how well they interact together. Even if you're doing the design work yourself, you can still find software that will let you see how colours look. For a real basic aspect, you can find samples of your desired colours and put them together on a big piece of paper in a rough kitchen layout to see how they work together.
Another way that you can see how a new colour will look in your kitchen is to put up a sample of it for a few weeks and see how you feel at the end of the time. This is great if you're renovating as you'll be able to see how different colours look in the lighting of your kitchen (often colours look slightly different in natural light compared to artificial light, in shadow and so on). This can be as simple as getting a sample of paint and painting a big piece of cardboard and putting it over the surface where you will be using it. If you can, try and get samples of your new benchtop/splashback/cabinet material in the colour that you want. Seeing them in your actual kitchen will soon tell you if they work together or if something's not quite right. A small outlay in the way of buying samples now can save you a world of heartbreak later.
