What Type of Rubbish Will They Accept?

Just like you would when hiring any other waste removal company, you need to find out what sort of rubbish the truck hire company will actually take away for you.  They should be able to remove general household waste including old whitegoods and furniture, renovation and building waste such as concrete, tiles, wood, and so on, and garden waste.  If you have any special waste to be removed such as asbestos, batteries and so on, always let them know so that they can make provisions for it.  The last thing you want is to hire a truck and then find out that they can’t take away half of your waste, forcing you to hire someone else altogether!

Do They Provide People to Load the Truck?

Don’t forget to look for a truck hire company that provides people along with the truck.  What this means is that the people will sort and load up the rubbish for you, saving you valuable time and effort, not to mention your back.  If your truck hire company does provide people to load the rubbish, make sure it is included in the total price, or that they make it clear to you that it is an extra charge.

Same Day Service or the Ability to Make Appointments

Most truck hire companies will be able to provide you with a same day service. This is great as you don’t have to put up with having all your rubbish cluttering up your garage, garden or driveway until they come out to get it for you.  Just make a phone call in the morning and the rubbish will be carted away by the end of the day.  Be aware that most companies will have a “cut off” time for same day service, so if you ring after this, you may not be able to be accommodated until the next day.  However, if you don’t need same day service, the company should be more than happy for you to call and arrange a day for the truck to come out.

What Size is the Truck?

It may sound obvious but don’t forget to find out how large the truck is!  This is important as you want enough space for all of your rubbish but you also want the truck to be able to fit where it needs to go.  Don’t forget to check the height of the truck to make sure that there are no clearance issues (especially important if the truck needs to go into an underground car park or into a garage).

Find Out What the Costs Are!

Always remember to check the cost of the truck hire company before giving them the green light to go ahead.  The truck hire company should give you an obligation free quotation either over the phone or in person, and explain what is included as part of the price.  If you have tricky or dangerous waste to dispose of, let the company know at the quotation stage, so they can adjust the price to reflect the extra work involved or so that they can let you know if they can do it or not.
