The ceiling in your home can hide a multitude of wiring and plumbing services so that you don’t have these impinging on the look of your home. But what happens if one day you need access to these services so that you can perform maintenance or repairs? There’s no need to go to the extremes of ripping out part of your ceiling as there are some great ceiling access panels available. Here’s what you need to know (for other options see home security).
Ceiling access panels are used to gain access to wiring or plumbing in the ceiling cavity. This makes it easier to perform repairs or maintenance as needed without having to damage your actual ceiling material. You can use the access panels in standard ceilings or in suspended ceiling systems. You have a choice between different types of ceiling access panels and the type that you choose will depend on the type of material that your ceiling is made out of and the amount of access that you need. Some common options include:
Ceiling access panels are available in different sizes depending on the space that you need to access, and some panels are lockable for extra security. Lockable panels are a viable choice if your panel gives you access to things such as your home security controls. You can easily have the access panel flush mounted to the ceiling so that it is discreet and looks attractive. The access panels are also available in different colours, or can be painted, so that you can be sure that it will fit in with the rest of the ceiling.
