Whether you have carpet already and are thinking of updating, or are thinking of installing carpets or rugs, winter is the perfect time to do so. Carpets and rugs can provide warmth and insulate against the cold. Plus, it prevents against that awful feeling of warm feet hitting a cold floor upon awakening!
The carpet, or even rugs, can be used as a decorating anchor in any room, providing a backdrop from which the style of the rest of the room can flow. The new technologies available in carpets also means that they can be used in more areas than ever before!
Perhaps the most obvious place to use carpet in the winter is in the living areas. Because carpet helps to absorb sound, you can avoid the echoes that often occur in a room that is filled with a lot of hard surfaces. As well as the standard plain styles, you can also opt for a patterned carpet or rug in order to create a statement. Even though modern carpets are incredibly stain-resistant, a pattern can help to mask the inevitable spills.
Many times, a bedroom does not feel complete without the addition of cosy carpet or rugs. Prevent against the annoyance of having warm feet hitting a cold floor by installing a lush carpet or place a thick rug underneath the bed to up both the comfort and style factor.
Two places that you may not have thought of using carpet are in the kitchen and the bathroom. Sound ridiculous? Not really. Rugs are often used in the kitchen to reduce the strain of standing on hard floors when preparing meals or cleaning up, and placing carpet or rugs underneath the dining table prevents the chairs from scratching the hard flooring surfaces. Some carpets are even tough enough to handle the rigours of everyday kitchen life. Many luxury homes are even putting carpets in bathrooms, especially around the sink and the vanity.
