Don’t Reject the Idea of Factory Seconds

A lot of people think that factory second appliances are somewhat less desirable but this is not the case at all.  Buying a factory second is actually an excellent way to get a high quality product at a much lower price than you would otherwise be able to achieve.  Usually all that is wrong with the product is superficial cosmetic damage, carton damage, or it has been used as a demo model or in a photo shoot.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with the appliance itself and it works just as well as one that is new.  In most cases, you’ll get exactly the same warranty, giving you peace of mind.

Look for Sales or Discontinued Models

Another way of finding kitchen appliances that don’t break your budget is by looking for sales or discontinued models.  Major retailers will hold sales periodically, reducing the price of appliances to clear.  In many cases, you can negotiate for further discounts, especially if you are buying more than one appliance at the time.  Appliance manufacturers also regularly discontinue older models to make way for newer stock, and retailers mark these down to clearance price.  Discontinued models often have all the features that you need and are looking for and you can even find ones that have extra features at a lower cost.

Consider Buying Online

If you’re not shy about online shopping, you can shop for all your kitchen appliances online as online appliance stores become more and more popular. These stores don’t have the overheads associated with a regular bricks and mortar store so they can offer the latest products at a price that many standard retail stores simply cannot match.  Many online retailers are also happy to negotiate on price, saving you even more.  Online appliance stores provide full warranties.

Have a Chat with Friends and Family

Don’t forget to have a chat with your friends and family about what appliances they have and recommend.  They might have been working to a similar budget to you when they were looking for a new fridge, oven, stove, etc and they can tell you what they ended up buying and what they’d recommend.  Find out if they are happy with the features and reliability of their appliances, and more importantly, if they’d choose the same brand again when it came time to upgrade or replace them.
