Do you need storage space in your garden but you absolutely hate the look of the standard steel sheds that you can buy? You can get all the storage space you need while creating a real feature by erecting a stone garden shed. Nothing beats the classic beauty of stone. Here is some more information.
As you’d expect, stone garden sheds are made from stone. Generally this is natural stone but you may be able to find imitation stone if you have a lower budget but still want the same look. Stone is available in different hues, from the classic sandstone tones through to deeper greys and blues. The choices in tones mean that you can match the shed to the colours in your home.
Stone garden sheds are the most expensive of all of the sheds to build, due to the cost of the stone and the skill needed to erect it. However, the shed will last for many years with very little maintenance and it will add on to the value of your home, and this will significantly offset the costs, if not mitigate them altogether.
The number one advantage of building a stone garden shed is that they are so beautiful. Nothing beats stone for classic, timeless elegance. Stone sheds will provide the perfect focal point and introduce real charm into your garden.
When building your stone shed, it is important that you know how large it is to be. It should be high enough to stand in comfortably, and a little bit larger than all of the items that you need to store. Remember to take into account not only gardening equipment but benches, tools, and so on. By making the shed a little larger than ideal, you’ll have “future proofed” it in case you acquire more items that require storing or larger items that replace your current ones.
One choice that you will have to make when building your shed is what to use for the roofing material. You could opt for simple Colorbond sheeting or you can choose to use tiles (terracotta, concrete, or slate). Your choice will largely depend on what you have for your main roofing. Another is what windows and doors to have and where. You will need natural light in the shed so that you can see what you are doing but you will also need security. Remember to take this into consideration. Try and place windows and doors also so that they improve the facade of the shed.
